Coach Joachim Loew was on Monday given the backing of the country’s football federation, nearly six weeks after his side was knocked out of the Euro 2012 semi-finals.
“We have heard a very convincing analysis of the Euros,” said the president of the DFB Wolfgang Niersbach after meeting Loew in the western city of Frankfurt, where the coach gave his assessment of the Mannschaft’s performance during the tournament.
“We absolutely agree with the sporting staff to say that the path chosen was the right one,” he added.

Joachim Löw has named the 27 players who will travel with the German national soccer team to training camp ahead of the European Championship, which starts next month in Poland and Ukraine.
With just over a month to go until Germany’s debut at the Euro 2012 on June 9 against Portugal in Lviv, Ukraine, head coach Joachim Löw announced the 27 men that will initially make the trip to the team’s training camp, which gets underway on Friday in Sardinia.
The final squad that actually makes the trip to the Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine will have 23 players. That list of names has to be submitted by May 29.…

Germany coach Joachim Löw concedes the process which led to the end of Michael Ballack’s international career should have been handled better.
Ballack was expected to lead his country at last year’s World Cup finals but suffered an injury in Chelsea’s FA Cup final clash with Portsmouth which ruled him out of the tournament.
The resulting success of a young German team in South Africa prompted Löw to announce in June that he would not be selecting Ballack again as it went against his new focus on youth development. Coach Joachim Löw donated his lucky sweater from the 2010 World Cup to a children’s charity, which then sold it for €1 million to retailer Galeria Kaufhof, which then donated it to a German football museum being built by the German Football Federation (DFB).
“I hope that the pullover will have a worthy place in the museum and will be well looked after,” said Löw as he handed over the cashmere sweater.
