Mourinho hails Ozil’s perfect blend

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho believes Mesut Ozil’s Turkish-German background has made him the player that he currently is.

Ozil was born and raised in Gelsenkirchen to Turkish parents, and Mourinho believes the playmaker has benefitted from learning to play football the German way, as well as having natural Turkish flair in his game.

“On one hand, Mesut has a very German mentality with regards to his discipline, his respect, his will to learn and the way in which he and the other players work together,” Mourinho told Sport Bild.

“He has, however, from the Turkish part of his mentality, a bit of creativity, dynamism and technique.”

Mourinho believes Ozil has what it takes to become one of the best players in the world, as long as he keeps improving.

“He’s incredibly talented. He is mentally up to par, he’s smart, and he wants to deliver good performances. Maybe we need to wait a little to see exactly how he develops and what direction he is taking.”

Ozil moved to the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer of 2010 after impressing at the World Cup in South Africa, and bagged 11 goals and 27 assists in his debut campaign last term.
