Germany striker Miroslav Klose could miss the World Cup 2010 third-place match against Uruguay because of injury.
Germany assistant coach Hans-Dieter Flick has revealed that Klose has a back injury and could miss Saturday’s game in Port Elizabeth.
The news is a bitter blow for Germany and Klose himself, who could miss out on the chance to become the top scorer in World Cup history.
The Bayern Munich striker needs just one goal to match Ronaldo’s record of 15 for Brazil. But, at 32, he may not get another chance to find that elusive strike.
Germany’s World Cup campaign came to a disappointing end after their 1-0 loss against Spain in the semi-final last night, but Klose is eager to play in the game against the South Americans, who lost 3-2 to Holland in the other semi-final.
We can only hope for a speedy recovery by him.
