Hildebrand to leave Hoffenheim

Following extensive discussions with Hoffenheim sporting director Jan Schindelmeiser and coach Ralf Rangnick, goalkeeper Timo Hildebrand has decided to leave the club.

Hildebrand, a former Germany international, joined the club from Spanish side Valencia in January 2009 and made 42 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit but he has a thigh injury in recent weeks that has forced him to watch from the stands.

“Goalkeeper Timo Hildebrand will no longer play for Hoffenheim in the coming season,” read a statement on the club’s official website.

Hildebrand has not indicated any preferred destination, but a clause in his contract states that he can leave on a free transfer.
