Butt set for shock recall

According to a report in Bild, Bayern Munich’s veteran goalkeeper Hans-Joerg Butt is set to be handed a shock World Cup call-up when coach Joachim Löw names his World Cup squad on Thursday.

The 35-year-old Butt has been in stellar form for Bayern this season with Louis van Gaal’s side set to win the Bundesliga title on Saturday.

He last represented Germany in 2003, wearing national colours for only the third time in his career.

Germany were dealt a huge blow on Tuesday when first choice keeper Rene Adler informed Löw that he won’t be able to play at this summer’s World Cup due to a rib injury.

The absence of Adler left Löw with a problem about who should be the third goalkeeper in Germany’s World Cup squad. Borussia Dortmund’s Roman Weidenfeller and Stuttgart’s Jens Lehmann were also believed to be in the running for the vacant position.

It remains unclear who will be the no. 1 keeper at the World Cup. Schalke’s Manuel Neuer and Werder Bremen’s Tim Wiese will have to battle it out for the coveted position.

Who do you think has what it takes to be the no. 1 keeper for Germany?

I think that position must go to Hans Butt bcoz he’s really well motivated and experienced keeper so I trust that Germany team will be more stronger if he take the place in South africa….best of luck

Guys , Butt is good goal keeper , he needs more self confident and motivated, so we need that kind of keeper cuz there is no goal keeper , they are young , and Butt has experience but , they will not put pressure on him , they must give him some space
