After the World Cup 2010 draw held in Cape Town, Joachim Löw gave his verdict on the results that has Germany facing Australia, Serbia and Ghana.
“We have lots of respect for Serbia and I have seen some of their games from the qualifiers on DVD and saw how they left France clearly behind them,” he said. “And Ghana are not an outsider either. Along with Algeria and the Ivory Coast, they are one of the strongest teams.
“They did well in Germany (in 2006) and I think they knocked Brazil out and they have Michael Essien, who Michael Ballack knows well. He is a top-level player. Australia (Germany’s first opponents) is going to be an important game for us and it will be important to win it.”
That’s basically the polite way of saying “we are confident we will progress beyond the group stage, and Australia is going to get a good thrashing by us as we want to start with a bang”.…Read more »
